Calculating wallpaper – so how many wallpaper rolls do I need?
It really is a simple process to measure your room for wallpaper – it is a lot easier than you may think! After selecting your Feathr wallpaper design, comes the question of how many rolls do I need? Whether you are creating a single feature wall or installing wallpaper on every wall surface, you need to follow the same simple process. Using our wallpaper calculator, estimating how much wallpaper you need can be done in 2 easy and undaunting steps!
1. Measuring for wallpaper – grab your tape measure.
When you are using our wallpaper calculator, you just need to input 2 simple measurements – the width and height of your space. Before you start, if possible, clearing your space will give you a free run of your walls to measure easily. If you can, work with someone to help you hold the other end of the tape measure while you are measuring your room. However, you can measure your room for wallpaper by yourself – just use a steel tape measure, as opposed to a cloth tape measure, which will allow you to take your dimensions easily. Have pen and paper ready to jot down dimensions as you take them. We would suggest you draw a diagram of your wall space so you can mark down the measurements easily.
When you are measuring, don’t include any skirting/baseboards, covings or crown mouldings. Start with the width of your room at the widest point, then take your height measurement at the tallest point. These measurements can now be input into our simple wallpaper calculator.

How to measure for wallpaper around doors and windows
Many walls will have a feature within it – be it a window or two, or a door. These features are not a concern at all when you are measuring for wallpaper. Simply measure the total width and height of the walls (excluding coving and baseboards) and input those dimensions into our wallpaper calculator. When you install your wallpaper, you will simply cut around the window/door features – simple!
How to measure for wallpaper with a roof pitch
To calculate how many rolls of wallpaper you need when you have a pitched roof space to decorate, simply find the largest point of the width and height and note those down. As always, exclude and skirting/baseboards when you are measuring your wall. Input your dimensions into our wallpaper calculator and we will work out how many rolls you then need for your roof space! When it comes to installing your wallpaper, simply cut the wallpaper to fit your room.
How to measure for wallpaper with a sloped ceiling
As with a space with a pitched roof, to calculate how many rolls of wallpaper you need, simply ignore the sloped roof and measure the widest space in terms of width and height. When you install your wallpaper, simply cut the wallpaper to fit your space.

We would suggest you start by drawing a rough sketch of your room so you can note down the dimensions for each wall separately. When you measure, do not include any skirting/baseboards or coving into your measurements. When you ready to add your measurements to the wallpaper calculator, simply add your width measurements together.
