After a tough decision making process, we are thrilled to announce the winner of the FEATHR Wallpaper Scholarship 2017.
The 2017 scholarship is the first of an annual $1000 scholarship awarded to a current or prospective arts, performing arts, humanities or design student at an accredited United States university or college. The scholarship was awarded based upon an essay submission, answering the following question: “How and why has a piece of art influenced your personal, educational and/or creative development.”
We read hundreds of applications, but one essay stood out for the author’s eloquent and emotive treatment of the subject.
Without further ado, we would like to say a massive congratulations to Anthony Thompson, 21, from Cincinnati, Ohio, the winner of the FEATHR Wallpaper Scholarship 2017. Anthony’s essay was based on his experience of ‘More Sweetly Play the Dance‘, an audio-visual piece of art by contemporary South African artist, William Kentridge. Anthony will receive $1000 in funding to be used for educational-related purposes, to help towards his degree in Theatre and Music Composition at Miami University.
We’d also like to say huge thank you to everyone else who submitted an application for the fund. The standard of work submitted was very high and we look forward to next year’s competition!
