New wallpaper from Kiki Slaughter: Oh La La in Verdigris

We have once again collaborated with Kiki Slaughter to create a new colourway of the award-winning Oh La La wallpaper.

The new design, Oh La La Verdigris, has been painted in a palette of soft mint, seafoam and viridian with brick brown and terracotta. The Oh La La wallpaper displays the experimental, organic and textural nature of Slaughter’s art. To create this piece, which was originally a triptych of canvases, Slaughter poured, scraped, layered and otherwise manipulated paint on the canvas to create a wallpaper that is rich in both color and texture.

“My work is an experiment with the fundamental process of painting. I pour, scrape, layer and otherwise manipulate paint on the canvas to create pieces that are rich in both color and texture. I paint very much in the moment, with little consideration of anything but the paint and painting in front of me. It is a controlled freedom. I am always painting away in my studio. I usually have around 20 pieces in the works at all times.” – Kiki Slaughter

“The FEATHR team reached out to me a year or so ago about turning my art into wallpaper. I was inspired by the idea and their enthusiasm and was excited to collaborate. I am so glad we did – my design, Oh La La turned out beautifully and I look forward to creating more painterly designs with them! Whenever I see my work up in an interior I feel totally humbled. I put my heart into my work and I love each piece but for someone else to feel the same is the biggest compliment”. – Kiki Slaughter

American abstract artist Kiki Slaughter works from her crumbling studio  in a 19th century cotton gin factory. Her work is as an experiment with the fundamental process of painting. She pours, scrapes, layers and otherwise manipulates paint on the canvas to create works that are rich in both color and texture: “My method is my muse. I am inspired by the very act of painting and the materials that I use – composing layers of color and texture until they become a work of art. Sometimes my work will also echo my surroundings – I soak up the colours, compositions and feel of the places I have lived and visited and transfer them onto canvas.” Originally from Charlottesville, VA Kiki Slaughter currently lives and works in Atlanta, GA, USA.
