Our new collaboration with American abstract artist Kiki Slaughter features a delectable wallpaper collection based on her original artwork, Safari
Safari wallpaper in Gold by Kiki Slaughter for FEATHR
Kiki Slaughter works from her crumbling studio in a 19th century cotton gin factory. Her work is as an experiment with the fundamental process of painting. She pours, scrapes, layers and otherwise manipulates paint on the canvas to create works that are rich in both color and texture.
The Safari Wallpaper collection was painted with oil and acrylics, utilising Slaughter’s layering technique. Amongst the artfully weathered layers of oil and acrylics lie dashes of metallics: gold, bronze, steel and patinated coppers.

The collection faithfully reproduce the dramatic detail of Slaughter’s original artwork: the warp and weft of the canvas; the fine markings from her brush strokes; the crafted cracks running through layers of oil point.

Tom Puukko, founder at FEATHR.com, said: “Kiki’s work involves the viewer at so many levels. From a distance, you see the drama of the complete piece; up close you engage with the individual gestural actions of the painter. They’re such stunning artworks and we’re delighted to collaborate with Kiki to bring her work into people’s interiors projects.”
Kiki Slaughter said, “The FEATHR team reached out to me a year or so ago about turning my art into wallpaper. I was inspired by the idea and their enthusiasm and was excited to collaborate. I am so glad we did – whenever I see my work up in an interior I feel totally humbled. I put my heart into my work and I love each piece but for someone else to feel the same is the biggest compliment.”
