Teija’s design process includes experimental techniques constantly seeking new approaches to surface design. She is fascinated by the endless beauty of textures, as well as the chance to evoke new dimensions and atmospheres to homes through patterns on your wall. Archipelago explores the idea of blurred border between the outdoors and indoors. Crystalline textures running through the surface of the abstract wallpaper create traces reminiscent of landscapes in the Finnish archipelago.
Archipelago Gold in Seashell
The design was created by an experimental painting technique utilising salt and liquid sugar. By applying salt or sugar on watercolour the pigment forms intriguing traces on a wet base. The wallpaper is finished with gold metallic coating that highlights the ethereal atmosphere. The Archipelago wallpaper is a textured design that is at home in a range of different interior design settings. It can add modernity and glamour to old-school luxury, act as a shabby chic complement to a crisp modern interior or to sit within an industrial interior.

It comes in a subtle colour palette inspired by the colours found in the archipelago throughout the seasons. The soft salmon blush of Seashell is offset perfectly by the deep golds of the metallic wallpaper. In Lichen, Teija recalls the earthy shades of the rare mosses and lichens that cover the granite rocks that rise from the sea. Linen introduces softer shades of pale taupes and calm greys, recalling the minimalist interiors of seaside summer cottages. Lagoon captures the depth of the blueness that surrounds the islands, whilst Fog recalls the grey blue mists than can roll in at any time of year, often enveloping only a single island.
