Each year, the World Interiors News Awards welcomes entries from Interior Designers, Architects and Product Designers from all over the world. Entries must be completed in the last 3 years, from design studios of all sizes and specialties. This year’s WIN Awards gala evening was held at Somerset House, one of London’s most celebrated new venues. A discerning judging panel selected winners for each of the 21 categories in interior, spacial and product design.
We were delighted when the Oh La La wallcovering and fabric collection was announced as the winner of Surface of the Year. The judges commented ‘Oh La La instantly grabbed my attention as it is a bold artistic statement for any interior’.

The artist behind the stunning Oh La La design, Kiki Slaughter, works from her crumbling studio in a 19th century cotton gin factory. Her work is as an experiment with the fundamental process of painting. The Oh La La design was originally a triptych of canvases, upon which Kiki poured, scraped, layered and otherwise manipulated paint on the canvas to create a wallpaper that is rich in both color and texture.
“My work is an experiment with the fundamental process of painting…I paint very much in the moment, with little consideration of anything but the paint and painting in front of me. It is a controlled freedom. I am always painting away in my studio. I usually have around 20 pieces in the works at all times.” – Kiki Slaughter
